Transesophageal Echocardiography
Transesophageal Echocardiography
A precise view of the heart
TEE uses a probe inserted into the esophagus, close to the heart, to obtain sharper images than a standard echocardiogram.
Main indications
- Detailed analysis of heart valves.
- Detection of intracardiac clots.
- Diagnosis of endocarditis or large vessel abnormalities.
- Pre- and post-operative cardiac assessments.
Safety and comfort
The procedure is generally well tolerated. Complications are rare and minor, and patients are closely monitored throughout.
